PNG Favicon Generator

Create square PNG website icons at 16, 32, 48 and 180 pixels from one PNG or JPEG. Preview each icon at its actual size before downloading.

When to use this tool

• Prepare browser tab icons and a 180-pixel Apple touch icon from an image you own or have permission to use.

How to use

1. Choose one static PNG or JPEG.
2. Select contain or center crop and a transparent or solid background.
3. Generate, inspect the actual-size previews and download the PNG files.
4. Upload the files to your site and add the HTML links to its head.

Examples

Input: A 160 × 100 PNG, contain, transparent background

Result: The 32 × 32 output centers a 32 × 20 image with 6 transparent pixels above and below. The downloadable files are favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png and apple-touch-icon.png.

Before you start

• One static PNG or JPEG, up to 15 MiB, 12 million pixels and 8192 pixels per side. SVG, GIF, WebP, animated PNG and ICO are unsupported.
• Contain preserves the whole image and adds padding. Center crop fills the square and cuts off the edges. Small inputs are enlarged; fine details may blur at 16 pixels. Transparency is retained only with a transparent background.
• JPEG EXIF orientation is applied. PNG files containing eXIf metadata are rejected because orientation handling varies across browsers. Canvas generates new PNG files without copying original EXIF, GPS or text metadata. PNG only: no ICO, manifest, automatic installation or universal browser compatibility guarantee.
• The selected image is processed in this browser tab. The icon tool does not upload the file or its contents. Ordinary page loading and configured analytics requests are separate from image processing.
• Download all four files, upload them to the root of your own site and add these lines inside its <head>. Adjust paths for a subfolder. Use an opaque background for Apple touch icons; devices may render transparency differently. Browser caches can delay updates.
